I made this account very specifically for this comment. I cannot figure out where to go from the room with the H powerup in it; I feel like I need it to progress due to the H gate in the cat guy's room, but I'm unsure.

I'm having the same problem, I cannot seem to get that h, and i cant see any other way to progress

wait, I think i figured out something! when you type s to the cat dude, he says "start. it is important to convert rooms" so i went to the room where you have to press star t, and i pressed it again, and it changed the room, so try that

is there a way to win, because i cant really speedrun if theres no ending

the game currently ends when you reply to the mysterious cat character with the keyword 'QUEST'.

The new update was tons of fun, I rather liked the underwater mechanics and the new letter throwing (I'm pretty sure I couldn't throw up before). Managed to get my Quest underway, although I almost softlocked with a speech bubble provided by The Speaker (as I'm calling them)

Very VERY excited for this game! I enjoy what we have so far. A few notes I'd like to give:

1. If you start in the wrong place, it'll softlock you. 

2. The jump height feels somewhat inconsistent? In that first room for example, to grab the A's from the top message, Jimi is just a bit short to get it. But if you jump enough he'll eventually grab them - maybe I'm not good at gauging it, but it doesn't seem to visually correspond to the platform jiggle?

I'm definitely going to donate when I'm available to do so. I hope this project can thrive! <3

Neat idea, but the game seems a bit broken in a number of ways.

no matter how many times i press the asterisk button in the room where you get the S block, it doesn't work :/

which keyboard layout do you have?

the normal kind, qwerty

are you hitting 8 and t at the same time? you dont need to hold shift

Is it possible to get to the S block or get some of the other letters like I in the game?

in the room with S hit * and t. You cant get I though.

I meant the room that has the E block after you get the ability to use the S key

i'm wondering if i should limit star room making to the one room where it's necessary. it would break internal logic but save players from glitches.

This game's really cool! I'm a little stuck though. I'm trying to get the "S" letter. I shot the dude across the gap (the one who says "Press Start"). Can't see any way to get across the gap. It seems like maybe the text-box platforms aren't spawning in the right place when I shoot him? (they all spawn way over on the right side of the screen)

they spawn in the right place, but you've got to turn the room into a star room to wrap around the edges and get the S scroll. the character is giving you a hint on how to do so...

Edit: Oh I got it, thanks! That was quite sneaky! I've turned on debug mode by accident though. Any idea how I can turn it off?

it is a bit of a pun - 'press Star T'. so the asterisk key on your keyboard and T.

this comes up if you shoot a bunch of letters and then walk into a checkpoint.


Another issue is if you die when you hit new game you go back to your old save. (this might only be possible when you clip though).

yeah, i think that's a clipping problem. i purposefully don't want to format the save file when starting a new game.

i think i beat the game the unintentional way, by using bugs to go through walls and found a statue

Had fun with the prototype - this seems like a great idea for a metroidvania with lots of potential for exploring and backtracking as you gather letters.

Loved it! Some of the text bubbles, like the one on top in the first scene, are not easy to reach by jumping, but overall it's a game I found simply amazing!

it can be accessed by jumping on top of "he only knowns the letter a" and allows you to go into rooms your not supposed to be able to access

That was really cool! The concept is quite fun. It took me a bit of time to understand I had limited amount of letters I could use, but that's part of the game mechanics discovery.

I'm curious, what did you use to make this game? What game engine?

This is a great concept! So simple yet you feel like you are learning with Jimi 🤭 I love the progression style.

It’s not necessarily a game breaking bug, but I found if you spam jump in certain places, you get teleported around

i've noticed that a couple of times while testing, unsure of what causes it. for now i'll just adjust the textbox positions.

i *think* i've fixed this now. at least, i haven't run into this issue after disabling x-collisions with textboxes when there's been a y-collision on the same frame.

Great game. Wish it was finished! The original build did not have the come back soon part during the void and it was very confusing. I will be following this.

I am confused.  I can fall off the edge of the world (the end), and I can get back by going left for long enough (or by going right, at which point the game glitches), but with the letters PEAT, I don't know how to get any further.

oh, i can see why you got confused, you're not supposed to get back from the void. that's where the game ends currently. i've now disabled this behaviour.
